Throneboogie brings us a new video for Moonface’s “I’m Not The Phoenix Yet” with some serious Buns Of Steel / Rocky vibes. Shot on a VHS-camera, it’s throwback to the days when workout videos were all the rage. Watch above or at Pitchfork TV, where it premiered earlier this morning.
Newly signed Foxygen will hit the road later this summer with La Sera and labelmate Moonface. See full list of tour dates below. The West Coast tour is in support of the band’s first release, Take The Kids Off Broadway, out July 24. Since debuting last month with “Make It Known,” the first single from their mini-album, blogs and fans alike have been quick to acknowledge Foxygen’s unique sound. You can download a second track from the mini-album below! Pitchfork premiered “Waitin’ 4 U” yesterday, describing the song as “multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado and singer Sam France mining at vintage glam and pop sounds from what sounds like the inside of a cardboard box.”

Directed by UK artist Marsha Balaeva, the new video for Moonface’s “Faraway Lightning” premiered today on MTV Hive. Balaeva created the video with her own hand-drawn images. “According to her, the story corresponds to the five stages of mourning — as the clip’s protagonist travels between worlds, he comes to grips with his loss. Krug is a master at blending myth and fantasy into everyday stories — in fact, the character’s feather suit and fall to earth recalls the Icarus story, a myth Krug used frequently with Sunset Rubdown.” It’s the second video to accompany his recently released album With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. Watch above!
Spencer Krug kicks off his U.S. tour this week. Joining him at every show is Siinai, with whom he collaborated on Heartbreaking Bravery. See the full list of dates HERE.

“The result is a blend of startling lyrical depth and slow, whirlpools of murky music.” Consequence of Sound
Where Krug’s output in the late 2000s was virtuosic and volatile, Bravery is poised and comparatively stoic. The record functions on tension and, for the most part, does so brilliantly. PopMatters
“Juggling minimalism and majesty, Krug elegantly conducts every one of Siinai’s fluttering, kosmische pulses into the numb room behind his sternum. No wonder his heart is breaking.” A.V. Club
